There is something so very special about the mentality of the devoted fan. At a certain point the context of the subject (music, art, film, etc.) is subsumed within the personality of that fan and the two become inseparable. I’ve been thinking a lot about the hierarchy of communication—especially with all this online stuff.
What means more: a public sweet comment on some social networking site or a post on a semi-secret blog you share with your lover? An long email or a short phone call? I don’t know.

So I had this realization today while at my old school: I am comfortable being uncomfortable around the people I went to college with.
I figure it’s similar to Yo La Tengo feeling comfortable with how boring their live shows are. Because despite that fact, Electr-O-Pura will always be one of my favorite albums. I also happen to love a lot of the ex-classmates I feel uncomfortable with and...
